In an effort to celebrate the beauty of Black girls, we hosted our first annual Back to School Braids event. Fifteen girls came to get free hairstyles, boosting their confidence before the first day of school.
The absence of a Black father has a huge impact on the psyche of developing Black children, affecting the quality of relationships the child enters in adulthood.
Black boys are taught early on that expressing emotion is a sign of weakness. However, the opposite is true. Vulnerability is the most courageous trait a person can have. Let's empower Black boys with the ability to effectively communicate their feelings.
